Changing name

My blog was formerly called, "the arctic view", but as the title already was taken I wanted to change it.
I stil wanted to have  name that's representing the life viewed from where I live. It's close to the arctic, If I use half and hour, on foot, I'll be totally in the arctic zone. Being so far north, makes life, in many ways reall different from living other places, just come and see. From here you will find no big forests, almost no trees. Wounds made in the nature takes really long time to heal. Few vegetables grow here and the flora itself is scarce. Few species, just grows close to the ground.

Traditional food has been nore made of protein rich sources like fish and animals, than from plants like vegetables or cereals. When my mother grew up in this area it was common that at a dinner consisted of loads of meat or fish and some potatoes. The vegetables they used was mainly onion, peas, swede or carrots. Vegetables we use like tomatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, and beans was almost not excistent.

Fruit was also scarce, apples and pears they had. Oranges a couple of times a year and many other almost never. No bananas, no kiwi, no clementines or melons.

With the emergence of the oilindustry and the welfarestate in Norway, along with international trade and better infrastructure, all the food they was lacking has become more common and you can almost get the same here as in southern Norway. But when I visit older locals, it's still often the same food as they had in the old days as they use.

In bad winters the roads are still closed for many days each year, and the airports are closed quite often because of the bad weather. Still people travel a lot, they feel they need to get away from the harsh conditions of the life on the edge of the arctic.

Welcome to my world
